We don’t exactly know where NASCAR is going to take us in 2021 and beyond. Promises of a new car have been put on the backburner as the world attempts to recover from a virus we’re still not quite sure was a legitimate problem in the first place, and a flock of young, promising superstars are offset by companies leaving the sport, TV ratings in the toilet, and rumors of teams significantly downsizing their operations in the not-so-distant future. And that’s before we talk about Iowa Speedway losing its NASCAR dates, and the renovations planned for Auto Club Raceway in California.
Modders, however, have attempted to offer stop-gap solutions for NR2003 in the form of fictional carsets and builds depicting a forward-thinking, global racing brand. Your choices are either a realistic 2020-esque set on the Muscle Car Late Model Mod platform (pictured above), or the International Competitive Racing mod; a bulky template that allows global brands like BMW to enter the fray. Everything here is speculative and exists solely inside the minds of the NR2003 community’s most creative individuals, but it’s close enough to warrant inclusion.
