Though not affiliated with NASCAR, Papyrus and Project Wildfire had created a set of physics depicting the SCCA Trans-Am series as it stood in 2003, a foreshadowing of the company’s inevitable transition to an all-encompassing motorsports format. Unlike other PWF creations, the mod struggled to achieve any sort of popularity – the physics were instead used for creations depicting the Indy Racing League/IZOD/Verizon IndyCar Series, and The US Pits promptly created their own Trans-Am mod. Only several years down the road do we now have a somewhat haphazard chronology of the SCCA Trans-Am series and some IMSA cars on Trans-Am bodies, scattered between a number of unrelated mods. Those looking for a more authentic 90’s Trans-Am experience would be advised to convert the ASA mod into PTA physics.
