Gen 6

In the hopes of recovering from their disastrous Car of Tomorrow experiment, NASCAR commissioned the design of all-new race cars for the 2013 Sprint Cup Series season – one of which was based on an Australian performance sedan flying under the Chevy banner. While fans were pleased overall with how well all three brands’ entries resembled their street-legal counterparts, it took less than a month for Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin to receive a hefty fine from the sanctioning body due to post race remarks that were less than stellar about the new car. Eight years later, NASCAR is still trying to fix the problem of atrocious racing while television ratings plummet and iconic brands depart the sport. Like the Car of Tomorrow mods, Gen6 add-ons for NR2003 have seen a few revisions over the years as Chevy, Ford, and Toyota each trimmed their respective noses to remain more aero-friendly.

In later years, as Monster entered the sport and Chevrolet struggled to keep its Supersport model relevant, Chevrolet brought in the Camaro ZL1, and Ford responded a few years later with the introduction of the Mustang to cup series racing.

Early versions of Gen6 mods featuring the bulkier Gen 6 bodies have been converted for use with CTS physics, and now serve as a platform for modern ARCA & K&N Series sets.
